Air Cargo
The air cargo facility at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has three main air cargo complexes, North, Midfield and South, a Perishables Complex and a USDA Propagated Plant Inspection Station. The total on-airport air cargo warehouse space measures 29.8 acres or 1.3 million square feet. There are 28 parking positions for cargo aircraft, 19 at the north complex and 9 at the south complex.
Fulton County’s Charlie Brown Airport
Located near the largest warehouse/distribution center east of the Mississippi, Charlie Brown Airport is considered the finest corporate airport in the Southeast. It serves as base for scores of aircraft owned by Fortune 500 companies.
Rail Service
CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads provide the rail service and operate piggyback facilities in Atlanta with overnight service available from the Ports of Savannah, Brunswick, Jacksonville and Charleston. Both railroads also operate stack trains to and from the West Coast.
AMTRAK offers passenger rail service to and from Atlanta.
Interstate Accessibility
Fulton County is one of only a few counties in the United States where three major interstate highways converge within its borders: Interstate 75 runs north-south from the Great Lakes to Florida, Interstate 85 runs from Virginia to Alabama, and Interstate 20 runs east-west from South Carolina to west Texas. The Interstate Highway loop 285, known as the “Perimeter” or “Atlanta Bypass,” is a 64-mile ring road encircling Atlanta.
